You will learn to work with:


Projects dashboard


To access your projects dashboard open https://cloud.agisoft.com/  in a preferred web browser and sign in with your credentials.


On your projects dashboard you can:

  • access and manage your projects,
  • access projects that your were invited in by other users of the service,
  • view currently available in service resource,

My projects


On My projects page you can manage projects that are owned by you.


To open your project simply click on its name or thumbnail.




Shared with me


On the Shared with me page you can manage projects that were shared with you by other people.


To open the project that is shared with you simply click on its name or thumbnail. 


To refuse access to the project, open project context menu and click on the Remove button.



Project


The very basic entity in the cloud is a Project - it is a named collection of datasets that can be viewed

and interacted online


Project that is created in the cloud web interface is only intended to organize a collection of ready to use geospatial datasets and not for photogrammetry processing. If you need to perform photogrammetry processing in the cloud jump to the Metashape Project paragraph.


Project optionally contains :

  • Groups - a named collection of datasets with a specific position in a workspace.
  • Datasets - geospatial datasets of supported types and formats uploaded into this project with a specific position in a workspace. 
  • Documents - measurements reports for each vector layer in the project.


To open one of your projects simply click on its name or thumbnail on My Projects page. 


Project files page


On the Files page of the Project there is one section called Datasets.   For the tutorial on how to upload new dataset refer to the Dataset paragraph.


To open the project's View page select the corresponding option from the drop-down list at the page header.


To get back to My projects page, click on the My projects button at the page header on the left.



Project view page


If there are some datasets in the project, a View page opens by default, where you can work with project visualization as well as manage project's datasets.

 

For the tutorial on how to upload a new dataset refer to the Dataset paragraph.


To open the project's Files page select the corresponding option from the drop-down list at the page header.


To get back to My projects page, click on the My projects button at the page header on the left.

Rename project

 

To rename the project:

  1. On My project page open project's context menu
  2. In the project's  context menu select Rename option
  3. In the pop-up appears enter project's  name and click on the Save button

Create project


To create an empty project:

  1. On My project page click on the the Add+ button to create a new empty project
  2. In the pop-up appeared enter project's name and click on the Create button




Share project


Each project by default is in private mode which means that only the owner of the project has access to view project visualization and access its datasets in the web interface . 



When the share By link option is activated, each person who has the link will be able to view project visualization in web interface without need to sign in Agisoft Cloud.


To share the project by link:


  1. Click on the Share button on the project visualization page or select Share option in the project's menu on My Projects page. 
  2. In the Share pop-up turn on By link option, copy the link and send it to the recipient.
  3. To block the access by link, turn off By link option and close the pop-up.


Invite people


When share with invited people option is activated, invited users having an account on Agisoft Cloud will have access to view the project visualization and download datasets through the web interface. 

 

If someone having an account on Agisoft Cloud is invited to the project he/she will be notified via email and granted the access to view the project visualization and download datasets through the web interface. Shared projects will appear on the Share with me page of the invited user for easy access.

 

If someone not having an account on Agisoft Cloud is invited to the project he/she will be invited to create an account on Agisoft Cloud via email. After creating an account on Agisoft Cloud, a shared project will appear on the  invited user's personal Share with me page for easy access and the user will be able to view the project visualization and download datasets through the web interface.


To invite people to the project:


  1. Click the Share button on the project visualization page or select Share option in the project's menu on My Projects page.
  2. In the Share pop-up turn on With invited people option, enter the email of the person you want to invite and click the Invite button. 



To block the access to the project to all invited people: 

  1. Click the Share button on the project visualization page or select Share option in the project's menu on My Projects page
  2. In the Share pop-up turn off With invited people option and close the pop-up. Invited peoples will lose access to the project but their email addresses will not be deleted from the invited people list, so when you turn on the sharing with invited people option again, the access will be restored.


To block the access to the project to a certain person: 

  1. Click the Share button on the project View page or select Share option in the project's menu on My Projects page.
  2. In the Share pop-up click on the Invited People header to expand the list of invited people. Click on the Delete button represented as a cross icon right to the invited user email and close the pop-up.




Embed project


Embed code is a piece of an HTML code containing link to the project visualization and number of pre-configured parameters like frame size, embedding mode, autoplay and project's name appearance flags.


This code may be used to embed the project visualization into your personal or corporate web-site or any other web-resource supporting this feature.


There are two modes of project embedding available:

  • Presentation only - only project’s visualization and presentation will be available in the embedded project.
  • Full featured - project’s visualization , all tools and settings will be available in the embedded project. 


In both modes the project will appear with respect to the default point of view, workspace and scene settings, configured in the web-viewer. Later changes of those parameters change the way embedded projects appear.


To embed the project visualization into desired website:

  1. Select the Embed option in the project menu on My Projects page or in the top right corner of the project's visualization page.
  2. Configure the size, autoplay and project's name appearance settings.
  3. Copy the code corresponding to the desired embedding mode.
  4. Embed the code into the desired website.



Delete project


To delete the project:

  1. On My project page click open project's context menu
  2. In the project's context menu select Delete option
  3. In the pop-up appears confirm project deletion by clicking on the Delete button

Group

Group is a named collection of datasets belonging to a specific project with a specific position in a workspace that is intended to organize a collection of datasets inside the project.


Create group


To create a new group on Files page:

  1. On project Files page click on the Add+ button to create a new group
  2. In the pop-up appeared enter group name and click on the Create button


 

To create a new group on View page:

  1. On project View page click on the + button at the top of the Workspace pane
  2. Select Create group option
  3. In the pop-up appears enter group name and click on the Create button



Rename group


To rename the group on the Files page:

  1. On project Files page open group context menu and select Rename option
  2. In the pop-up appears enter new group name and click on the Rename button


To rename the group on the View page:

  • On project View page double click on the group in the Workspace pane
  • Enter new group name and press Enter key



Move group


To change group position on the View page:

  1. On project View page click on the group in the Workspace pane
  2. Drag the group to the desired position
  3. Drop the group to finish



Delete group


To delete the group on the Files page:

  1. On project Files page open group context menu and select Delete option
  2. In the pop-up appears confirm project deletion by clicking on the Delete button


To delete the group on the View page:

  • On project View page select group in the Workspace pane
  • Click on the Delete button in the Workspace pane next to the group name

Dataset


Dataset is a geospatial file of supported type and format, that is uploaded into the cloud with a specific position in workspace.

 

When uploading a dataset into the cloud, its copy in a web optimized format called tileset is generated automatically so it can be viewed and interacted with in a web viewer.


Dataset consists of:

  • Source file - the file uploaded into the cloud,
  • Tileset - the file in a web optimized format generated automatically.


List of supported data types and formats:

  • LiDAR and photogrammetry point clouds in the following formats:
    • .obj,
    • .ply,
    • .las,
    • .laz, 
    • .e57,
    • .pts,
    • pts.gz,
    • .ptx,
    • .pcd, 
    • .3DTiles 
  • Tiled Models in a 3DTiles format.
  • Orthomosaics, satellite imagery and any other raster maps in GeoTIFF format.
  • Digital elevation models in GeoTIFF format.
  • Vector layers in GeoJSON format.


In order to organize data the way it is required without data duplication it is possible to link datasets from one project to another, so the datasets will be available to view in multiple projects.


To link dataset on the target project Files page:

  1. Open the project you want to link the dataset to

  2. Click on the Add+ button

  3. Select Link dataset option from a context menu

  4. In the Link dataset pop-up navigate to the desired project and check datasets that you want to link

  5. Click on the Link datasets button


To link dataset on the target project View page:

  1. Open the project you want to link the datasets to

  2. Click on the + button in a Workspace pane on the left

  3. Select Link dataset option from a context menu

  4. In the Link dataset pop-up navigate to the desired project and check datasets that you want to link

  5. Click on the Link datasets button

To unlink the dataset on the target project Files page:

  1. Open the project to which the dataset is linked

  2. Open the linked dataset context menu

  3. In the context menu select Unlink option

  4. In the pop-up appears confirm the operation


To unlink the dataset on the target project View page:

  1. Open the project to which the dataset is linked

  2. Click on the dataset in the Workspace pane on the left

  3. Click on the Unlink button

  4. In the pop-up appears confirm the operation

Open parent project

To open dataset's parent project on the target project Files page:

  1. Open the project to which the dataset is linked
  2. Click on the link icon on the linked dataset card
  3. Click on the Open button


To open dataset's parent project on the target project View page:

  1. Open the project to which the dataset is linked
  2. Select dataset in the Workspace pane on the left
  3. Open the properties pane on the right
  4. Click on the link icon in the top right corner of the properties pane
  5. Click on the Open button

Manage relations

To manage dataset relations on the parent project Files page:

  1. Open the parent project of the linked dataset

  2. Click on the link icon on the linked dataset card

  3. Click on the Edit button

  4. In the Relations pop-up unlink dataset from the desired projects

  5. Click on the Save button


To manage dataset relations on the parent project View page:

  1. Open the parent project of the linked dataset
  2. Click on the dataset in the Workspace pane on the left
  3. Open properties pane on the right
  4. Click on the link icon in the top right corner of the pane
  5. Click on the Edit button
  6. In the Relations pop-up unlink dataset from the desired  projects
  7. Click on the Save button

Upload data

Please note that only data in coordinate system that is transformable to WGS84 (EPSG::4326) coordinate system is supported.

To upload data on the Files page:

  1. Click on the Add+ button and select Upload data option from a context menu
  2. In the Upload data pop-up click on the Browse button
  3. Select one or more files of supported type and format on you device and confirm selection
  4. Selected files will appear on the project files page.


To upload a new dataset on the View page:

  1. Click on the Upload button in a Workspace pane on the left
  2. In the Upload data pop-up click on the Browse button
  3. Select one or more files of supported type and format on you device and confirm selection
  4. Selected files will appear in the Workspace pane on the left. 


If the file is invalid, the upload procedure is not started, the validation error is displayed in the properties pane on the right. In case the file is not removed from the project during the current session it will be automatically removed on leaving the project.


If the file is valid but its coordinate system is not recognized, the upload procedure is paused until its coordinate system is configured. In case the file coordinate system is not configured the file will be automatically removed on leaving the project.



Whether the file is valid and its coordinate system is recognized or has being configured manually, the upload procedure is started. When upload is finished, the file is automatically published, which means that a copy of the file in a web optimized format called tileset is generated for it in order to be able to work with it in a web viewer.


Create dataset


On the project View page you can create a vector layer for further digital mapping and annotations. Detailed tutorial on how to create and manage vector layers, as well as on how to make annotations with it can be found in the  "How to measure and annotate your projects" article.


Rename dataset

 

To rename the dataset on Files page:

  1. On projects Files page open dataset's context menu
  2. In the dataset's context menu select Rename option
  3. In the pop-up appears enter dataset's name and click on the Save button


To rename the dataset on View page:

  1. On projects View page double click on the dataset in the Workspace pane on the left
  2. Enter dataset's name and press Enter key

Move dataset


To change dataset position on the View page:

  1. On project View page click on the group in the Workspace pane
  2. Drag the group to the desired position
  3. Drop the dataset to finish



To move dataset on the File page:

  1. On project open dataset's context menu
  2. In the dataset's context menu select Move to option
  3. In the pop-up appears select desired location or navigate to the desired location
  4. Click on the Move here / Move button



Delete dataset

 

To delete the dataset on Files page:

  1. On projects Files page open dataset's context menu
  2. In the dataset's context menu select Delete option
  3. In the pop-up appears confirm dataset deletion


To delete the dataset on View page:

  1. On projects View page click on the dataset in the Workspace pane on the left
  2. Click on the Delete button
  3. In the pop-up appears confirm dataset deletion

Document


Document in a Project is a measurement report.


Measurement reports


Measurement report can be generated for any vector layer in the project and it contains detailed information  about every geometry in a layer, including its color, name and measured properties. 

For every geometry type a summary information on geometries quantity, and their measured properties sum or mean value is presented in the report.


Measurement reports are generated on the fly when prompted and they do not take storage space in the cloud.


To generate a measurement report on the project Files page:

  1. Click on the Measurement reports card in the Documents section 
  2. Click in the report that you are interested in.


To generate a measurement report on the project View page:

  1. Select a vector layer in the Workspace pane on the left
  2. Click in the Measurement report button in the Properties pane on the right

Metashape Project


Metashape Project that is uploaded into the cloud is a special case of Project and besides being a collection  datasets is also linked to PSX file, project files directory, photos, processing log and processing reports.


In case you need to add some context when analyzing photogrammetry processing results, it is also possible to upload dataset to the Metashape project just like with Project that is created in the cloud web interface.


Metashape project necessarily contains:

  • PSX file 
  • Project files directory


Metashape Project optionally contains:

  • Project photos
  • Published processing results:
    • Chunks - a named collection of published processing results
    • Processing results - Cameras, Tie Points, Dense Cloud, DEM, Orthomosaic, 3D Model, Tiled Model, available for visualization and interaction online
  • Datasets - geospatial datasets of supported types and formats uploaded into this project.
  • Documents   - processing log, processing reports for each processed chunk and measurement reports for each vector layer.

Metashape project files page


If the project is not published and there are no datasets in the project, a Files page opens by default, where you can manage the project's datasets.


On the Files page of the Metashape Project there are three section:


  • Published processing results 
  • Datasets 
  • Documents



Metashape project view page


If a project is published or has some datasets, a View page opens by default, where you can work with project visualization as well as manage project's datasets.

Process Metashape project


Set up Metashape


First you have to configure Metashape for processing in the cloud, to do that:

  1. Start Metashape Professional
  2. Select Preferences option from the Tools menu

  3. In the Preferences pop-up open the Network tab

  4. In the Network tab opt-in the Enable network processing option and op-out Enable cloud processing option.

  5. Input account credentials in the Cloud section and click on the Ok button to finish configurations.



In case you are using a firewall please ensure that ports 443 and 8086 are opened through a firewall as well as https://api.agisoft.com:8086 and https://account.agisoft.com urls are whitelisted to allow Metashape to communicate with the cloud.


Start processing


When Metashape is set up for cloud processing, each time you start a processing operation or a batch of processing operation you are asked to process locally or in the cloud.


To start processing in the cloud:

  1. Start Metashape Professional
  2. Open an existing PSX project or create a new project, import the desired photoset and save it in PSX format.
  3. Configure and start desired processing operation or a batch of processing operations
  4. Confirm that this processing should be done in the cloud when asked


When initiating the processing in the cloud, synchronization procedure starts and the source imagery together with the project files directory are uploaded to the cloud. 


When project files and photos are uploaded processing starts and the project is blocked for local usage until processing completion and you can safely disconnect from the cloud and continue working with other projects locally.


Monitor progress


To monitor project status in Metashape simply open the corresponding PSX file in Metashape, current progress on the project, the time spent on processing and the estimation of time left to finish the processing will be displayed. 



To monitor project status in the web interface, sign it to https://cloud.agisoft.com with your credentials, on My Projects page current progress on the project processing and the estimation of time left to finish the processing will be displayed.


Get processing results


When processing is finished, you receive an email notification with information on how much of compute node operation time was spent on the processing and how much is still available on your account balance, as well as with errors details if any occurred.


To get a processed project from the cloud, open the corresponding PSX file in Metashape and the local project’s version will be automatically synchronized with the cloud one - which means that update project files will be automatically downloaded to your device.



Alternatively, in case the local project's version has been deleted from this device, on in case you need to download the project to other device:

  1. Start Metashape Professional
  2. Select Download project option from the Cloud submenu of the Files menu 

  3. In the Download project pop-up select desired project and click on the Ok button

  4. Select directory and optionally project's name and click on the Save button


If you also need to download project photos, do as follow:

  1. Start Metashape Professional
  2. Open an existing PSX project that has been previously uploaded into the cloud, for which you want to download photos
  3. In the Download photos pop-up select photos you need to download and download directory and click on the Ok button

  4. When downloaded, photos paths will be automatically updated.


Once the project is in the cloud you can run new processing operations in the cloud without need to reupload project photos and files. To start new processing in the cloud:

  1. Start Metashape Professional
  2. Open an existing PSX project that has been previously uploaded into the cloud
  3. Configure and start desired processing operation or a batch of processing operations
  4. Confirm that this processing should be done in the cloud when asked

Upload Metashape project


To upload the locally processed project into the cloud:

  1. Start Metashape Professional
  2. Select Upload project... option from the Cloud submenu of the Files menu 

  3. Confirm that this project is new and a new project will be created in the cloud when asked
  4. Wait until upload completion




When photos are not of need to work with online, you may remove them from the project before uploading to spare storage space in the cloud, upload the project and close the project without saving changes to prevent photos in the local project.

Publish Metashape project


Processing results that are stored in Metashape project files directory are in internal formats that are not suitable for the purposes of visualization and interaction on the web.


In order to start working with the project processing results online it is required to generate in web optimized formats, those copies are called tilesets and the process is called publication.


To publish the project:

  1. On My project page open project's context menu
  2. In the project's context menu select Publish option



When publication is finished, you receive an email notification. To view the project's visualization, simply click on the project card on My Projects page at you data dashboard at https://cloud.agisoft.com when signed in with your credentials. 


If the project is published, its visualization will be automatically updated each time the new processing of this project in the cloud is done in case new processing results are being built.

Rename Metashape project

 

To rename the project:

  1. On My project page open project's context menu
  2. In the project's  context menu select Rename option
  3. In the pop-up appears enter project's  name and click on the Save button

Share Metashape project

Unpublish Metashape project


When you don't need to work with project visualization online, you may unpublish the project, so the tilesets for all processing results in the project will be deleted.

  2. In the project's context menu select Unpublish option

Download Metashape project


To download Metashape project from the cloud:

  1. Start Metashape Professional
  2. Select Download project option from the Cloud submenu of the Files menu 

  3. In the Download project pop-up select desired project and click on the Ok button

  4. Select directory and optionally project's name and click on the Save button


If you also need to download project photos, do as follow:

  1. Start Metashape Professional
  2. Open an existing PSX project that has been previously uploaded into the cloud, for which you want to download photos

Delete Metashape project

Chunk


Chunk is a named collection of published processing results, that inherits its name and content from the Metashape project.


In order to maintain the consistency between how you see the project in Metashape and in the cloud, renaming, reordering or unpublishing  of individual chunks is restricted.



Published processing result


Published processing result is a special case of dataset, and is actually a copy of particular processing result in a web optimized format that is called tileset.


In order to maintain the consistency between how you see the project in Metashape and in the cloud, renaming, reordering or unpublishing individual processing results is restricted.


List of processing results types:

  • Cameras
  • Tie Points
  • Dense Cloud 
  • DEM 
  • Orthomosaic 
  • 3D Model 
  • Tiled Model

  2. Open the linked processing result context menu

  3. In the context menu select Unlink option

  4. In the pop-up appears confirm the operation


To unlink the processing result on the target project View page:

  1. Open the project to which the processing result is linked

  2. Click on the processing result in the Workspace pane on the left

  3. Click on the Unlink button

  4. In the pop-up appears confirm the operation

Open parent project

To open processing result  parent project on the target project Files page:

  1. Open the project to which the processing result is linked
  2. Click on the link icon on the linked processing result card
  3. Click on the Open button


To open processing result parent project on the target project View page:

  1. Open the project to which the processing result is linked
  2. Select processing result in the Workspace pane on the left
  3. Open the properties pane on the right
  4. Click on the link icon in the top right corner of the properties pane
  5. Click on the Open button

Manage relations

To manage processing result relations on the parent project Files page:

  1. Open the parent project of the linked processing result

  2. Click on the link icon on the linked processing result card

  3. Click on the Edit button

  4. In the Relations pop-up unlink dataset from the desired projects

  5. Click on the Save button


To manage processing result relations on the parent project View page:

  1. Open the parent project of the linked processing result 
  2. Click on the processing result in the Workspace pane on the left
  3. Open properties pane on the right
  4. Click on the link icon in the top right corner of the pane
  5. Click on the Edit button
  6. In the Relations pop-up unlink processing result from the desired  projects
  7. Click on the Save button


Document


Document in Metashape project is a processing log, processing report or measurement report.


Processing log


Processing log is being generated during every processing in the cloud. Only the log for the last processing is stored in the cloud.


To access processing log on the project Files page:

  1. Click on the Processing reports and log card in the Documents section 
  2. Click on the log card.


To access processing log on the My Projects page:

  1. Open the project context menu
  2. Click on the Log button

Processing reports


Processing reports are being generated during every processing in the cloud for every chunk processed. 


To download the processing report, click on the Download button located on the Processing report card that you interested in on the project Files page.


To access processing report on the project Files page:

  1. Click on the Processing reports and log card in the Documents section 
  2. Click on the report card that you are interested in.


To access processing report on the project View page:

  1. Select a chunk in the Workspace pane on the left
  2. Click on the Processing report button in the Properties pane on the right

Measurement reports


Measurement report can be generated for any vector layer in the project and it contains detailed information  about every geometry in a layer, including its color, name and measured properties. For every geometry type a summary information on geometries quantity, and their measured properties sum or mean value is presented in the report.


To generate a measurement report on the project Files page:

  1. Click on the Measurement reports card in the Documents section 
  2. Click on the report card that you are interested in.


To generate a measurement report on the project View page:

  1. Select a vector layer in the Workspace pane on the left
  2. Click on the Measurement report button in the Properties pane on the right
